High Level Risk and Security Officer Required

Managing the systematic identification, assessment and mitigation of risks within the company and establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.

Main responsibilities:

Security and Risk:

• Formulate and maintain risk assessment plans for all work sites
• Formulate and maintain security and safety management plan for all work sites
• Track, monitor, audit and report on anomalies and/or breaches of security and report to management
• Conduct audits and site visits to ensure compliance with security procedures
• Deal with local police to assist with any criminal or suspicious activity, opening of criminal cases and representation of company for all security and risk activities with regards to handling matters at police stations, and or at crime scenes.
• Utilise appropriate models for analysing potential risks to the business, taking a 360-degree view of the organisations risk profile
• Source and vet the credentials of potential security service providers (Access Control and Guarding; Control Room and Technical equipment – CCTV)
• Ensure that all service providers meet the performance standards in terms of their SLA’s
• Prepare reports and presentations on internal investigations, losses, or violations of regulations policies and procedures and security monthly statistics
• Identify, investigate, or resolve security breaches
• Assist in emergency management and contingency planning
• Conduct periodic inspections and spot checks to ensure security’s alertness

Health and Safety:

• Develop and maintain Health and Safety Policies and processes
• Facilitate health and safety meetings and ensure proper documentation thereof
• Ensuring that all Operational stores and Head Office maintain the proper regulated health and safety documentation as per Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Conduct workplace hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA’s) as well as health and safety audits
• Design and implement responses to any HIRA’s identified
• Keep management up to date and informed about legislative requirements regarding health and safety requirements
• Liaise with the Health professionals to ensure that employees in relevant roles are medically fit
• Regularly review and update company health and safety risk assessments, safe operating procedures and safety statements
• Create safety manuals and develop training programmes to enhance safe working conditions
• Responsible for monitoring contractors and vendors working on all company sites, to ensure that Health & Safety practices are applied and upheld at all times
• Complete safety induction training for all staff, sub-contractors and maintain documentary evidence
• Review sub-contractor’s safety statements and safety compliance
• Ensure corrective measures are implemented
• Review and update emergency procedures as and when necessary
• Conduct quarterly Health and Safety drills to ensure knowledge stickiness
• Ensure the recording and investigation of reported incidents and accidents to the regulated bodies such as Department of labour
• Ensure that statutory training is conducted, employees are correctly certificated and oversee validity of the certification
• Ensure that correct PPE is availed to staff at all times
• Submit monthly reports to Adeo structures


The successful candidate should have the following skills, experience and attributes:
• A recognised, completed 3-year tertiary qualification in Security Management /Health & Safety or any other related field.
• A clear understanding and proven working knowledge of the Health & Safety function.
• Technical knowledge of CCTV systems including Thermal cameras essential
• 3-5 years solid Health & Safety experience in a fast-paced environment
• SAMTRAC (Safety Management Training Certificate)
• Diligent and great attention to detail
• Strong time management
• Ability to communicate at all levels
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work in an unstructured, ambiguous environment
• Ability to anticipate and prevent accidents or incidents
• Fully computer literate (MS Office).
• Valid driver’s licence
